Installation

To contribute to the Open Grants List by adding a grant or author information, follow the instructions below:

  1. Post the grant online: Since the website does not host grants, it is recommended to post the grant using archival platforms like Zenodo or Figshare to avoid broken links in the future.

  2. Add information about the grant:

    • Information for each grant should be stored as YAML with fields for each key piece of information.
    • Replace the items to the right of the “:” on each line with the relevant information of the grant you want to add.
  3. Three options to get the grant added:

    • To add the grant via a pull request:

      • Create a file named “lastname_firstname_year.md” in the “_grants” folder of the GitHub repository.
      • Submit a pull request that adds the grant information to the created file.
      • Use the lead PI’s lastname and firstname in the file name. For multiple grants by the same PI in the same year, append letters in order to the date (e.g., “white_ethan_2026a.md”).
    • To add the grant via an issue:

      • Open a GitHub issue and paste the filled out YAML into the issue.
    • To add the grant via email:

      • Email the grant information to the provided email address.
  4. Add information about the author:

    • If desired, information about the author can also be added.
    • For submitting via an issue or email, include the author information along with the grant information.
    • To submit via a pull request, create a file named “lastname_firstname.md” in the “_authors” directory of the GitHub repository and place the author information in that file.
